The Porch Room

Canopied four-poster, Queen-sized bedWalk down a 200-year-old stone-walled corridor, open a turn-of-the-century stained glass and mahogany-paneled door, and enter our newest addition. The Porch Room’s four-poster queen bed is canopied in part by an old cedar shake roof, the remains of the original eave line. The bed shelters beneath an airy, vaulted barn-beamed ceiling, surrounded by four windows that frame our sprawling fields and pond. On warm evenings open the windows and enjoy the soothing sounds of our nearby pond fountain. Wake up to lots of morning light streaming in on the quilted coverlet, illuminating the antique dresser and random-width hickory flooring. Whitewashed plaster walls are adorned with lighthearted artifacts and whimsical nature scenes.

Antique dresserWarmth abounds. Carriage lantern lamp fixtures, louvered pine window shutters, a cushioned rattan rocker and an oversized wicker Casablanca fan complement this porch-like setting.

Porch Room-BathThe open-air feeling continues into the private bath, with its vaulted ceiling, skylight and stone floor. Featured is a custom-made flame maple vanity, crafted by a New England furniture maker.
